Service Learning

Nativity BVM is committed to Service Learning as a way to encourage each student to recognize his or her moral, ethical, civic and social responsibility.  Service Learning also helps develop critical thinking skills, encourages empathy for others, and promotes social and personal development.

At Nativity, each grade takes part in at least one year-long service project as a way to foster an awareness of the needs of others and, most importantly, to actively help others in need.

Prayer Partners is a school-wide program at Nativity where each student from Kindergarten through Grade 3 is paired with another student from Grade 4 through Grade 8. Throughout the school year, each set of Prayer Partners shares a special relationship where the younger student is mentored by the older student in a variety of activities, ranging from monthly Mass attendance to Holy Day and holiday parties. In this most basic form of service, each Prayer Partner benefits from the bond formed between them.
