Philosophy

The success of a child’s learning is determined in the foundational learning opportunities. At Nativity BVM School the kindergarten teachers offer warm and responsive relationships as they integrate knowledge with skills and concepts needed to make progress academically and socially. The teachers create a learning environment that stimulates and engages the child’s curiosity.

Curriculum

A major emphasis of the Kindergarten program is to build a strong foundation in language and communication skills. We engage young learners in thinking, reasoning, and communicating. Frequent assessments not only give a clear profile of student achievement but also assist the teachers in planning and instruction.

Nativity BVM Kindergarten provides a unique learning environment that allows students to experience a wide range of learning opportunities.

Two small classes provide individualized attention in these formative years.

Smartboards in classrooms allow students to experience 21st century learning.

Language arts development provides a sound foundation for reading and writing skills.  Our kindergarten teachers are excited to be part of a pilot program using the new Rowland Reading Program "Superkids".

An understanding of basic Math concepts prepare students for higher math skills.

Early Faith Formation emphasizes Family and Respect for others.

Lablearner science program immerses students in hands-on learning as they begin to build problem-solving skills.

Journal writing places an early emphasis on writing skills, sentence formation, and handwriting.

Weekly Computer lab sessions build early technology skills.

Music class, taught by a separate music teacher, helps develop an appreciation for music.

Weekly Art class helps students explore their creativity.

Introduction to Spanish gives young students an awareness of languages and culture.

Kindergarten students gradually take part in school-wide activities.
